Received this call at work...have answered in the past but they always hung up. This time a female with a heavy Indian accent asked for me by ~almost my name then followed with "As an IT professional you're entitled to xxxxx free xxxx seminars xxxxxx the next is at xxxxx and lasts 16 minutes xxxxxx"
The xxxxx approximates words I couldn't understand. I told her I wasn't interested and she thanked me and hung up.
I've received numerous calls as well. I added the phone number to my address book and named it telemarketer so I would recognize it when they called again. Kind of tired of them interrupting my work and trying to sell me something.
Received a call on my cell phone from 201-338-6189. Heavy Indian accent. Seems to be legit; regarding my eWeek magazine subscription, had the email address I gave to eWeek and my business address. Wanted to sign me up for several other free trade magazines (which btw I already receive, such as Baseline, CIO).
I'm suspecting this company was contracted by eWeek to obtain leads. Didn't bother me, all part of doing business. As long as calls don't come in the middle of the night :-)
Fortunately I now have caller ID at work. It comes up as unknown. I'm sure it's a magazine subscription center, and I'm tired of their harassment. I don't answer.
Do like i do, dont answer uknown numbers, simple enough...thought so. If they leave a msg, then you can decide to return it or not. Works everytime. No harassing sales people, no overdue bill collectors, it is a great thing. Good Luck.
