Typo there, I think you mean DMV. Could be, also I know of car dealers who sold my info. Also my car insurance carrier dropped a dime to some over-priced Road Side Assistance scammers. I can track, to some extent, who is selling my name since the DMV uses my middle name, the car dealers no middle name, and the insurance carrier uses my middle initial only. It is interesting to see how far your name spreads over a few years, all the companies who have that info. Brrrrrrrrr!!!
You and James would both be right with respect to Illinois DMV; local paper had article in it about 2 years ago to the effect that this state sells driver's license information to whomever (not specified) Same number showed up today with "private name" in caller ID field. Not as catchy as ."open car door" I guess (and still blocked)
Just got a call this morning. The number was 201-414-9681. I told the the rude caller to take me off thier calling list. I said I have asked you people to take me off your call list multible times. He ignored what I said and continued to babble on questioning my mileage. I interrupted him and asked if he heard what I said. I told him I'm not answering any questions about my car. He hung up. So I looked up the company's website. By the was harressing telemarketing calls a punishing by charging a hefty fine to thier company. Once you ask them to stop calling. And then continue to call. Makes it telecommunication harressment and it is a law in ohio. Not sure about the laws in your states.
I own a new 2016 Honda with a five year factory warranty and they tried to sell me an extended warranty that won't take affect until 2021, I told them a trade every three years and they still persisted I needed that warranty could hardly understand them don't know what country they are in but give them you credit card number and it will be an expensive mistake
