What a drag! Sorry to hear what you're going through. I just got a call with your number showing in CallerID, which I didn't answer. The bad guys have likely made your phone number unusable for you and I would think you'll need to get a new #.
There's got to be a way to come up with "certified" caller ID #s that can't be spoofed. Until then, I'm using blacklists via Ooma to filter my calls, but many still slip through to ring my phone like this one did. I may switch to whitelisting via Google Voice, so only the numbers I approve will make it through to ring.
answered home phone and got lower your interest rates..... hit 1 to talk to a rep. So I hit 1 and asked to be removed from their list, the man told me he loved me and asked me if I loved him and I said no. He then said F*** you and hung-up on me. Keep trying to call back, but goes to his voicemail.
Thanks to the above for posting on this. I also got a call on my cell and didn't notice it until now...google the number and saw what was posted. Appreciate you guys taking the time.
This is a message from the TRUE owner of the phone number 201-452-4404. Let me clarify what's happening: scammers from a foreign country are using a technique called caller ID spoofing to trick you into giving them sensitive data, including credit card info, etc. DO NOT answer this call under any circumstances. Here's some info about how this works: http://www.thesecurityadvocate.com/2015/02/28 ... -happen-to-you/
Right now, my cell phone is receiving a barrage of calls and text messages, when I am not even initiating a single one of these. I'm getting cursed at and threatened, and my phone has been rendered useless. I apologize that you all are receiving calls, but this is not from the true owner of this phone number. Please spread the word and be vigilant. These thieves will continue calling you from another number, and another. I have called the FCC and filed a complaint- they said they simply cannot do anything. Our archaic telephony infrastructure allows for this to happen.
