Very wierd- i answered the phone and the lady (with a very thick accent- and very loud background) starts talking- no acknowledging my greeting- just starts in saying her name in NANCY..and bla bla bla- i say hello 2-3 times before she stops reading her script..i ask who she is looking for and she says "your IT manager.." and them immediately asks "is that joe?" i reply- "what is this regarding and who is calling" and she replies- "this is Nancy- NANCY... with comodo- that c-o-m-o-d-o.. calling about the exp ssl license for 123.com" i tell her i can take a message and while she is polite, she was hard to understand and this is an old scam
Calls and leaves a message to renew your SSL cert. I don’t know if it’s a scam but they will probably charge you 10X what you paid for the cert though whoever you purchased it from originally.
Comodo calling having trolled expiring SSL certs DB. Buying security services from a telemarketer seems quite risky. Annoying company. My bet is positive comments here are from the company itself. Seems disreputable.
Called twice this morning. I missed the first call. Answered the second. It took a while for them to answer, sounds like there's a delay. Man had an Indian accent. Maybe it's getting routed through this New Jersey number to India? Anyway, they said they were from some company, and said something about a security certificate on a website, and asked if I was the administrator. When I asked them what company they were from again, he disconnected.
My guess is some marketing company scraped registry data and are looking for dupes.
I just received a call from this company both yesterday and today. The are definitely calling from India even though it is a NJ number. Yesterday was a girl calling and when I asked for her name she stuttered and delayed, then finally said "KIm". I guess she had to think up an American sounding name real quick. Then today "Mark" called and was also hard to understand. They both said our certificate is expiring and this is an urgent call, but neither one was very knowledgeable about what they were "selling" or "scamming", lol. SCAM!!!!!!!!!!
