Very wierd- i answered the phone and the lady (with a very thick accent- and very loud background) starts talking- no acknowledging my greeting- just starts in saying her name in NANCY..and bla bla bla- i say hello 2-3 times before she stops reading her script..i ask who she is looking for and she says "your IT manager.." and them immediately asks "is that joe?" i reply- "what is this regarding and who is calling" and she replies- "this is Nancy- NANCY... with comodo- that c-o-m-o-d-o.. calling about the exp ssl license for 123.com" i tell her i can take a message and while she is polite, she was hard to understand and this is an old scam
Comodo - have called 4 times in the last 2 days to try to get us to renew our SSL certificate with them. Considering how annoying they've been, absolutely will not consider them.
Confirmed - Comodo.com SSL Certificate Sales Call - aggressively targeting sites with expiring go daddy ssl certificates with a competetive price. That being said calling the contact info off of the domain registry for SALES purposes is a violation of the usage policy for that data, and pretty shady. In my case they offered a 5 year wildcard certificate at a 3 year price, which is interesting because ICANN has ruled that wildcard certs will no longer be issued for longer than 3 years so this must be a legacy certificate that they are trying to sell as many as possible before it goes dark. Good luck with that. Their "special" price wasn't even all that good compared to other quotes I've received from other vendors. Half the price of go-daddy but not the best price out there.
