I got a call from this number at around 4:00 pm. The guy said he was looking for "Julie Daisy" after he knew my first name. I told him that he got a wrong number. He would not hang up and asked me if I got grants from the government. I said now that I am not the person he wanted, why he needed to keep the conversation. He said "your voice is cute" and asked "how old are you". Me: "It's impolite to ask a lady for her age" "Why should I tell you my age" "how old are you?" He laughed: "I have a state ID. So I can get married. I want to marry you" I said: "Freak!" and hang up.
This is a spoofed number. The key is in the exchange: 114. "1" NEVER begins a public exchange number in the US. The phone companies use those phone numbers internally. That's why when you call back you get the message that the phone has been disconnected or that number is no longer in use. It was never used in the first place.
It's like how in the movies and on TV they always give the number as "555-xxxx". "555" is an internal phone company exchange, not used for public purposes.
Said they were with the government and my phone number was selected for a grant that I dont have to pay back. I had a choice on how to recieve this $8500. I chose cash in hand, they would western Union the money. But first I had to oay the registration fees. I asked how much. $300. I dont have $300. Well, how much do you have? Thats none of your business. I hung up and blocked the number. SCAM!!!!!!!!!!
Received multiple phone calls (10+) from this number. The gentleman says he is with the U.S. Treasury Department. Also, I can receive a grant for $9800. The money would get sent via Moneygram or transferred to my checking account. Sounds like a scam so I promptly hung up. Also, I get this very strange vibe that he does not work for the U.S. Treasury Department.
