Who called from 2022000018

Got a call from this number.  Glad I went online and found out this is a scam.

Got a call from 202-200-0018 Same as the others. Thick accent. Something about $9000 grant. Lot of background noise, like on a street corner. Could hear someone else in the background talking. Told the caller to hold on a minute. His response was don't take too long. Hung up. DO NOT CALL BACK.

From those who have played along a little with the scammers it seems as if they are operating out of Jamaica or the Dominican Republic with a spoofed Washington, DC number.  They either want you to get a Wal-Mart or CVS Green Dot Prepaid debit card or wire money via Western Union to a contact in one of those countries for the "processing fee".  They also try for your banking information to "deposit" the grant.  Like others have said, they need to up their game a bit, this scam is so transparent.

Member stated i applied to a grant and had to finish paperwork, member was hard to understand, i left him on hold.

I was called by someone from this number on my cell.  Could not understand a word he said.
