Got a call from Deborah at the Grant Resource Center who said I was eligible for grant money. Answered some questions, not with the correct answers, and she said someone would call me with the grants I was qualified for. She also gave me two different names during the call.  When Josh called and asked more questions, he ]ut me on hold and then came back and told me I was qualified for $38,000 in free grants.  All I would need to do is pay a fee of 5%, which could be charged to a credit card, which the grant money would pay off.  I told him No Thanks, and he said Good luck, stay broke.  Kiss my A$$.

I actually answered all of the caller's questions because they weren't asking for sensitive material like SS#'s or bank accounts. What can they do with my my income, vague credit/debt #'s, DOB, and address? The pitch was that private corporations & companies were looking for certain people that fit their criteria for specific grants; which would be used as tax write offs. They actually tried calling me back a few times, but I missed the calls. Tried calling back, but the # was out of service. Obviously a spoofed # & a scam.

I received a call from this number at 2:45pm Central Time on 11/23/2015.  The caller said that her name was Jill Sturgis.  She told me that my name was submitted anonymously, and I was eligible to receive a tax-free grant of at least $25,000.00.  She said that she worked for the company for 5 years, but would not disclose the name of the company.  She also stated that many companies fund the grants in order to receive a tax write-off, and Discover Card was one of their largest contributors.  She asked me questions about my marital status, dependent children, and debts.  She verified my e-mail address, and she said that she was going to send me additional information regarding the amount that I would receive and when I should expect to receive the funds.  The conversation lasted about 22 minutes, and she said that she would also call back within an hour for follow-up.  I did not hear from her again by phone or e-mail.  I most likely am too broke and have too much debt.  I tried to call the number back.  The phone rang several times and then went to a busy signal.
