Had this very same experience just now. "IRS has a lawsuit against my company and do I have my lawyer ready right now" because of a "miscalculation of my taxes that did not go through in a proper way". Thick "non-native English accent. Wanted me to make an appointment with the IRS otherwise they will contact local Sherriff's office. He wanted me to 'make an appointment with the IRS office right now and they will provide the documentation" I was immediately on guard and said I would look into this independently. I suspect the act of making the appointment would have been his way to get my information. He never used my name.
Received a call this morning stating that "before we take serious legal action, please return our call". Called the number back and got a voice mail that just said "leave a message". My message was that I have reported them to the FTC and to remove my number. We'll see if they call back.
Received the same recorded message twice today from this number about lawsuit filed in my name and to call them...blocked future calls and will report to FTC.
This number for whatever reason has called my parents house a few times. I havent lived there in a few years. My mother told me about this. She asked what it was in reguards too and the guy was very rude and inisted on talking to me. My mom said it was a foregin guy and that they needed to talk to me before they turned something over to county. I knew right away it was bull and told my mom to just call them out and tell them to stop calling or there really will be a legal problem!
