Had this very same experience just now. "IRS has a lawsuit against my company and do I have my lawyer ready right now" because of a "miscalculation of my taxes that did not go through in a proper way". Thick "non-native English accent. Wanted me to make an appointment with the IRS otherwise they will contact local Sherriff's office. He wanted me to 'make an appointment with the IRS office right now and they will provide the documentation" I was immediately on guard and said I would look into this independently. I suspect the act of making the appointment would have been his way to get my information. He never used my name.
I am so glad that we have internet....I just received the same automated message that I have a serious legal issue and need to call right away. I have received other calls from this number over the past 2 days, but this was the first message.
Will ignore.
Recieved a call this morning 8:30 am on Jan 15, 2015 telling me a lawsuit had been filed and I needed to call the number on the message, I called and the person identified me by my name. I said how do I know this is the IRS. He replied the sheriff dept would notified and then hung up. i looked online for this phone number. I am reporting this as a scam and hope no one gets taken advantage of.
received a call "from the IRS" telling me a lawsuit has been filed against me and I need to call back to 202-239-1258 promptly to avoid further legal action in this serious matter. When I finally got the courage to call, it was a recording that simply said "Leave a message!" Seemed sketchy so I googled the phone number and found these posts… quite a relief to hear this is a scam. Pretty threatening & intimidating to have that message, though!
After all I have read here, I can't believe how persistent this worm is. When I called him back and told him that I believed this was "Bogus" and that there had to be an audit before there was a lawsuit, he got offended at the word "Bogus" as if he never heard such bad language and hung up. Hey, I could have used much worse words. Thank you internet for keeping us informed.
