Today (April, 04 2014) at around 1:00 pm I received a telephone call at my home phone from a person (phone # 202-241-1299) impersonating as a representative of IRS officer with some IRS issues related to me. I told him that IRS sends letters first for any issues instead of calling on telephone and asked the caller if he was trying to scam me. He told me that I could hang up. I hanged up and then I called IRS on phone. I was informed by IRS that I have no issues with them. I then called the person at 202-241-1299 to check if that number is a valid number. I was connected with the person who threatened me that an arrest warrant has been issued against me because in my previous conversation I asked a police officer if he was trying to scam me. He threatened me that I would be deported to India (from my name he knew that I am originally from India), but I told him that I am an US citizen and cannot be deported to India. Then he tried to scare me with bad hindi words. I hung up the phone. Then he called me again and I told him not to call me and hung up again. He tried to call me again and again, but I did not answer.
Threatened me. It became apparent they were looking for my ex-wife, who was born in another country. Said I was responsible for here debt. We have been divorced 16 years. I spent time in Iraq, so do not appreciate this type call. Come to my house was my response. Smile.
Yup, I got the same phone call. They left a message on my anwering machine trying to scare me with tax fraud charges. Tried to call back but no one picked up. Automatic message says that I should leave a name and phone number. I tried to contatc IRS fraud department. They wanted me to leave a message but the answering machine was full on their end. I am thinking that many people are reporting this to IRS now.
The same thing happened to me today. August 22-2014 the guy called and said I had to get a lawyer and I owed 2000 in back taxes from 2008-2012 and said not to waste his time he was very rude and short.. So I got nasty back trying to explain to him I don't owe nothing
Received 2 messages from Mr. Alex Parker of Tax Dime Investigation Unit of Federal IRS regarding my tax returns. Asked me to call back to avoid legal action. There are 3 dead giveaways that these are scam calls: 1.) I understand that 202 is Washington DC's area code. But if this was really the IRS calling, i would think they'd have a toll free (1-800) number for me to reach them. 2.) These callers on my answering machine have an accent. I mean a really THICK accent. Like if i were to call technical support type of accent. I wouldn't think the government would outsource labor for its citizens' very personal confidential information. and 3.) I mailed out my tax returns a little over 2 weeks ago. Even if my paperwork has reached them, I HIGHLY doubt the IRS has had the time to even open my letter, let alone go over all of my papers.
I also received a message from "Officer Jack" who could be reached at 202-808-3735. This one was an automated message.
Got 2 messages from the 202 # and of course telling me that I need to contact them since they are the IRS and my tax issues (which I know is a scam) I filed a police report previously and also I left the CA Attorney General know and also the US Fraud dept and the Consumer Trade commission about them. THIS IS SCAM!!!!! BE VERY CAREFUL - I WISH I COULD SHUT FIND THEM AND PROSECUTE THEM!!! They need to go back to their own country
