I am a Canadian citizen and I am receiving the same calls, he claims to be with the Federal Government here in Canada and has left threatening messages on my voice mail. These scammers need to be stopped!
I received this call on the 19th. I was told I could be taken to court and if I lost I would owe 11,000 dollars. I told him in a colorfull matter it was a scam. I call the sheriff dept and was told there was nothing they could do, should I call the IRS?
****THIS IS A SCAM**** ****DO NOT CALL BACK**** The voice of this alleged IRS employee caller is almost comical. The broken English and terrible diction should be an immediate tipoff that this is not a legitimate call from the IRS or perhaps not even a legitimate company, but rather a syndicate of foreign criminals looking to make a quick buck off of unsuspecting or overly-trusting Americans who fall immediately into compliance over any issues purported to involve their government. At any rate, this is a scam and no one should comply with these calls. So far most calls have come from the 202 Washington, DC area code, but it's very likely that those phone numbers are being spoofed and the calls are originating from outside the country. Impersonating a government agency and/or a government official is indeed a crime. Hopefully we have jurisdiction over these persons, and they receive appropriate fines and/or prison time when found and arrest.
I just got a call just now from this stupid [***] fake IRS officer Jonathan knight. What the hell is wrong with these people claming to be from the IRS trying to get money from people. How stupid can they be. IRS don't call your house or threaten you they send a letter to your residents.
