My disabled mother in law got a call from this number today. Claiming to be IRS and threatening her with legal action. Called 3 times in an hour. I called it back went to VM. Pathetic.
This is a scam, most likely perpetrated from South Asia using Magic Jack numbers from the US (including the DC area). They sometimes also spoof numbers from the local DMV etc. to follow up their threats Do not be fooled, the IRS communicates in writing first and does not use tactics like this. insult them at your leisure when calling back

I get 3 or 4 calls per day from this number with caller describing themselves as a IRS investigator. I told him he is calling from a 202 number and I live in the state of Texas which would be a 512 number. He first stated he was calling from Washington DC and when I said "I know where you are calling from", he asked well where am I calling from, I asked what and he sais he was calling from Pakistan.
SCAM for the 4th of July
On July 3, 2014 at 1:12PM I received a call from 202-241-4051. The male voice was most difficult to understand except noting he was calling from Text Crime Division of IRS and a very important message. His name was possibly Pierre Henry with the direction to call back this number immediately or have my attorney call him and if I did not he wished me good luck. OBVIOUSLY it is a scam because that is not how IRS contacts USA citizens. Interesting if you try to call the number back: the voice mail announces a name of David Carter whose mail box is full.
I have gotten several phone calls and a couple of messages from "Peter Henry" this morning also. He stated he was calling from the tax crime division of the IRS and I was named as a suspect in a case and if I ignore the calls, the case will unfold badly for me. I figured it was a scam. The IRS doesn't call, they mail notification.
