The Indian IRS scammers like to target people they think are recent immigrants. Also single women and mothers as well as the elderly. Not unusual that they would target Roma people or related.
Beware, take care. These Indian scammers are relentless.
Just had a call from a Steve Walker asking for my son. He claimed to be from the IRS criminal fraud and investigations. Claimed he had a warrant for my son's arrest. He had a very heavy Indian accent, so I figured it was a scam. Told him we'll call him and hung up on him.

I also received two calls from a man with an Indian accent, claiming to be Agent McBrown with the Crime Investigation Division. The first call I thought was a scam. I did not call back. The second call he also said that he was about to issue a warrant for my arrest. I called him back. He said I was wanted for not paying taxes, and that he was working for the CID of the US Treasury. When I asked how much I supposedly owed, and in which year, he said it was within the last ten years and that he did not have the amount in front of him. He said that he would send a Federal lawyer to my house and we could negotiate a settlement or, failing that, that he would issue the warrant immediately. I said that I would not meet with any Federal lawyer without my accountant present, and not in my home. I asked him to send me the details in writing. He said he already had done. I said that I did not receive it. I recommended that he send it certified mail. He said the government does not do that. I said he certainly did not sound like a government agent, and hung up. I am glad to realize that this is a scam. I was scared.
