Please report this call to your city, county and federal officials. Most importane - advise any elderly relatives!! This is a scam. The caller is wanting personal info from you. Don't confirm your address, phone number and dont give your social security number or any other information!
My elderly father received a call today from 202-241-6146 Kevin Harris with the IRS with Tax Fraud. He said my dad would be arrested by 4pm for Tax Fraud. It was very upsetting to my father and the rest of the family. Its a scam!
Received call at 12:30 PM, Thursday 3 July 2014. Caller ID displayed "DIST OF COLUMBI 1-202-241-6146. We have friends who live in DC, so I answered the call. The caller, speaking English with what sounded like an Indian accent, identified himself as Kevin Harris and asked to speak with my wife by name. I informed "Kevin" that she is not home at the moment. He asked that she return his call at 202-241-6146. I asked the purpose of the call. "Kevin" replied that he wished to speak with her about a legal action that the IRS has initiated against her. Although I recognized that this is a phone scam, I simply thanked him and said I would pass his message to my wife. I will try to pass this information to Federal officials, but based on previous experience I'm not optimistic that they will take action.

Kevin Harris called and said he was with the IRS Criminal Unit. His accent was so strong I could barely understand him, and it was CLEAR his real name was NOT Kevin Harris. He was extremely angry and said I was under investigation for Money Laundering and that there was a warrant for my arrest. That was so absurd that it made me laugh. He then hung up. After I thought about it for a minute I got really mad, so I called him back. I said I think we got disconnected, and he said no he hand hung up because a woman should not DARE to laugh at an important IRS Investigator. Then he said I must give him my social security number, I said if he was the IRS then he surely already had that information and he hung up on me again. This is such a scam!! He tried to intimidate me into giving him my personal information.
Received a total of four calls at /after 3:00 PM Central from this number (202-241-6146) on July 14, 2014. The male caller spoke with a thick Indian accent, claimed to be from the IRS Criminal Unit, and told me the call was being recorded. This was during the third and then the fourth call-- the first two calls I hung up when no one answered initially. The caller asked for me by name and stated my mailing address to confirm my identity. He then told me that legal action was pending against my by the IRS- a law suit- and that Federal, state and local authorities were on their way to serve me and/ or arrest me. He was difficult to understand and I asked to speak with a supervisor. I advised both that their thick Indian accents made them very difficult to understand. They responded by speaking more slowly and attempted to speak more clearly. Another male then answered- also with a thick Indian accent- and again stated that the IRS was going to sue me. I told him to send it to me in the mail, but I refused to confirm my address per his request. When I asked him the nature of the supposed law suit he did not reply. I also asked him what local authorities and he answered vaguely, "the cops and the sheriff." I asked him the purpose of the call and what he was selling. He never gave me an answer. I never did get to the actual scam part of the call, as he became frustrated with me and hung up..
