They just called my friend today July 29, pretended that they were the IRS. Said that if she didn't give them money they would arrest her and asked for almost $3000 in cash, asked to meet her in front if a store to give them the money. They told her that she couldn't pay via check or credit card.
How do these people sleep at night? It's upsetting to think that they could even do this to extremely vulnerable people who may be extremely gullible (like little old grannies or grandpas!) They should look themselves in the mirror and be disgusted by themselves for being so evidently malicious. They should be arrested. It's just not right.
This number called claiming to be the IRS. They asked for my son, using a name that is not in any way associated with a social security number. I asked if this name was listed as a taxpayer, he responded that it was. Impossible, as the IRS has my son's legal name on record, not the pseudonym (nickname) that they asked for.
Same happened to me but when I started asking questions he got vulgar called me a mfer asked me my bra size etc he hung up on me by the end of the call
This is a Scammer. I received message and called back as the message said I owed back tax to IRS. The man answered and explained 3 criminal charges, but never asked my SSN. I said I'd call back and he cut the line.
