I got a recording about being sued by the IRS. When I called back, I got a recording about Magic Jack. It ended by saying the number I had dialed had not been assigned to a customer.
I received a robo-voicemail from the same numer as recently reported by others in this site; 'there is a lawsuit against me and my social profile' (whatever they think they have).
After doing a reverse lookup it's listed as a landline used by YMax Communication in DC
I Googled YMax, who invented MagicJack. They are a voip provider, so you don't know who has the application/device.
I will take the advice from RexIRS and other by logging a complaint with the FTC and local Attorney General
Several calls last few days from this number saying they were from IRS and we owe back taxes and this amount must be paid immediately. Foreign accent, we told them off, hung up. They somehow stayed on line, we picked up phone minute alter and they were still on with their pitch. Told them phone conversation was recorded and sent to police, they hung up, reported this number, SEVERAL TIMES to Do Not Call Registry and Dept. of Treasury. Enough is enough!
This number calls 10 times a day. I usually don't answer. Whenever I do they hang up. Today I decided to call the # back and surprisingly they answered. They are obviously an international call center with a heavy accent. They were trying to claim they were from the IRS. When I called them out on their B.S. They started to threaten me and say they were going to kill my family and f*ck my mom. They said they were from Packistan and worked w Osama Bin Laden and were going to kill Americans and blow up the new World Trade Center, etc, etc. I called back a few times and different people told me the same thing. They also said f*ck Africans and Black mamba's. I called the phone company and blocked their # and reported them to Ic3.gov who is linked to the FBI. Obviously they are harassing lot of people.
Indian accent using David Cooper that a lawsuit is being filed ...they even have the address of the courthouse in the area where I live (they do research that) and sound very legit but for sure the call from them is NOT the IRS as they do not identify themselves or refuse to provide any docs as to the "case" against you.
Thanks everyone for sharing and putting my mind at ease with this serious scam!!
