A man me and gave me this code and then gave me this number here 347-983-9728 and said they was giving me 9,200.00 but they want me to give them 210.00 and I will get the total of 9,410.00 back and the man that I talked to name was Jack Cooper so what should one do when they get calls like that or how do we know if its true
Got the same calls, finally I called it back and they told me I had been audited by the IRS from 2008 to 2012 and that they were going to take me to court and put leans against my house and wages. Paper work had been sent to my house by officers 4 times but no one was home. I had two choices, go to court or settle out of court. When I responded that there was a accident outside my house and if he could hold on while I asked a police office about the matter we got disconnected. I waited a few minutes to settle down and called back, he actually answered and said we must had been disconnected and asked what the office told me....I let him know the officers told me to tell him to "FO". Which was the truth, he then asked me if that was with my Mother or Daughter.
Received a call from this number, message left. Called back- Jack Cooper, thick accent- said he was from IRS. Noticed a lot of background noise- like a call mill. Told him I did not believe he worked for the IRS. He was still talking when I hung up.
As with the others above, I too, was solicited by this person with a thick accent claiming he was with the IRS and I had a lawsuit against me in reference to my 2008-2012 tax returns were filled out in error and that they needed this resolved today. He wanted me to get in my car and go downtown (25 miles away) to get the money owed ($5786.00) and take it to a local store like Krogers, AG Foodstores, or the like and purchase a
money card and take to the IRS which didn't make sense. ALL THE WHILE he was going to STAY on the line with me going to the bank to get the money, to go to whatever store, and then to the IRS dept where I could see the documentation (which I know now they wouldn't have) which would have taken quite a few hours. I still don't know who I actually was going to give any money to. Hard lesson to have learned it was all a scam.
He even called back on my cell phone leaving me a message if I didn't call him back in 45 minutes, it would all be turned over to the local court house and a warrant for my arrest would be issued and I would be picked up
and taken to jail. So everyone who reads this be aware of any such type phone calls. As others have said,
IRS will contact you by mail to resolve any such problems and do not deal with lawsuits.
