I called and it was such a joke. First of all the IRS doesn't operate this way. Second the guy was an idiot. I asked him for his ID badge # and he spelled out F&$# @&U. It's a scam.
I was just contacted and was threatened that i will be arrested within an hour if did not pay. Also that my property and bank accounts will all be seized. Gave them my phone number and he provided a name I know nothing about....
IF you really did owe a debt, you would NOT be arrested. Your money & property can only be seized by court order. Real process servers do NOT call first. You might like to call your county courthouse - civil division. They will tell you this is a scam to extort money from you.
same thing happened to me last night - they started off so powerful - do I have an attorney, what's my attorney's name, we started the process to seize my property and warrants have been issued in my name/husband's name, sheriff will be at my house within the hour to arrest us....on and on. I know that the IRS sends certified mail but this still freaked me out! I kept listening trying for figure out if it was real and then "you have one hour to pay" IT'S A SCAM!
Same thing happened to me yesterday, it was a recording saying that if I didn't contact the IRS I will face serious consequences, I am calling them back, nobody answers, to leave a message. I believe it is a scam, IRS will contact you by mail.
This is a scam. I received a call with automated info that I could be fined. I called it back and was created by a man with an Indian accent claiming to be an IRS agent. He asked for the number they called. I gave it to him. He asked for my name and the I asked if this is really the IRS because this is very weird. He sais "if you dont believe it then dont call back. Thank you, have a nice day." I expect to likely receive o the scam calls, but I never give personal information over the phone.
