Left computer-generated-voice message from "Julie Smith" claiming to be from the IRS and that I should call immediately. I think I'll pass and instead report to the FTC. If I were to owe the IRS I would received certified mail. *SCAM*
You would get a letter from them, but it won't be certified. Owning my own company for over 30 years, I have received plenty of letters from them. Regular windowed envelope with return address.
And of course, I have never had the IRS contact me over the phone except for an ongoing situation, however I was first and initially notified by good ole USPS Granny mail. (Not certified)
