This was "Amanda", a very pleasant robot voice claiming to be from "Home Protection", making an illegal call in violation of the National Do-Not-Call Registry. "She" was looking for homes to receive a free security system, but the line went dead in the middle of "her" spiel. Darn shame - I LOVE when these folks call. In the past I've had them on the line for 30 or more minutes, asking softball questions about their systems, and, best of all, setting up an appointment for an installation. When an installer comes, I hand them a copy of the NDNCR to give to their superiors, reminding them that they are working for a company that is violating the law with their sales practices, and suggesting that they might do better working for a more stable, law-abiding company. Sometimes you just gotta' fix things yourself...
Fake phone numbers. They call from different area codes as people like me are blocking their old numbers. Same M.O. using different scams. They switch between being a home security system to being a business loan company. Only the federal government can stop these a-holes but no one there seems too motivated.
Oh, by the way, if you do press two different numbers to talk to a "real person" you will be put on hold forever. How rude! They call me trying to sell me something and then put me on hold. Kiss my A$$...
"Rachel Krasnow" robot with *VERY* weak A.I. Business loan scam.
Reported to FCC/FTC, for all the good it will do...not much...
Blocked the number after reporting it.
This is an illegal telemarketer calling using robocalls to push for a business loan scam. The numbers they are using are either MagicJack extensions or are just plain forged. They keep calling my personal cell phone which is also on the Federal DoNotCall list, so they are breaking several laws regarding telemarketing.
I keep talking to the same person (once you press 1 and then 5) and earlier in the week he claimed he worked for FWC Funding but lately he has stated that he is calling in behalf of "Business Loan Center in Irvine California".
