1-202-370-7463 has called several times but would never leave a message. one day I was home when they called back. The caller claims to be Mr Jones from the IRS and says I owe back taxes to the IRS. He said I owed back taxes and gave me the whole speal,,,section 51-K , a case number, made me listen while he went on and on about tax fraud etc etc. He said I will be jailed if taxes not paid and to make arrangements to find a baby sitter for my children because the police were coming to my place of work to arrest me. All I could do was laugh at him and say, I know I don't owe any taxes and you are a scammer!!! He said, ok the police are on the way have a nice day and hung up on me...I am still getting daily calls from this number but not when I'm home to tell them that I have reported the number to the IRS Fraud Prevention line. Please don't fall victim to this scam, the IRS would NEVER call you up like this and threaten you even if you do owe taxes, and don't confirm any personal info with them either like the last four digits of you social security number etc etc. Please report them to WWW.TIGTA.GOV, lets help catch the fool!
I got the same story, however, mine was Ed Anderson (with a thick accent) and did leave messages. I was wanted for tax fraud, going to be arrested, blah, blah...at the end he says "do not disregard this message, thank you, and God bless you"...if the IRS is going to have me arrested for tax fraud, I don't think they are going to close by saying thank you, or bless me! This really is ridiculous - they call a few times every month! We are on a no call list, but they keep calling, so frustrating. I also reported this to the FBI scam site.
They have called the last four work days straight on my home phone. We are on the do not call list. When I pick up, there is no one there. Whoever they are, they just need to stop.
