Got a call from this number demanding payment of nearly $7000 as a result of a discrepancy in my taxes between 2009 and 2010. I was in school that year and did not work outside of a small stipend position through the university. I was given two options: go to the bank immediately to withdraw the funds and then deposit in the 'IRS Collection Fund' at Wells Fargo, or they would send the Sheriff out to arrest me. I hung up and they attempted to call me back multiple times.
This sounds like fraud from someone pretending to be the IRS alleging a lawsuit for tax fraud against you. I just got this call now, and even a slightly different version yesterday from another number with a slightly different message wording

Best advice... don't answer numbers you don't recognize. If legit, they will leave a message, if not, you do not run the risk of having them pass on your phone number as "active".
