I got the same number call me a minute ago. I called back and a lady answered and she said "can I get the number that called you" I said, "this is the number I am calling back." When I told her that, she hung up. The voicemail said the IRS has been trying to reach you please call us back at this number thank you.

This is definitely a scam! These people have been calling me since Jan 12th, 2016. When I called them back a foreign man answered the phone speaking broken English. He said his name was officer Jack Williams and that I was being sued by the IRS.. I told him "you can barely speak English and you want me to believe that your name is officer Jack Williams from the IRS? I then told him I was tracing this phone call and alerting the police and he immediately hung up. I called back 4 times before someone would answer again and it was a young child who answered that time. I asked the child who he was, and why his family was calling me in attempt to scam me. The child hung up. I called the IRS and this is NOT them. The IRS does NOT operate like this. The IRS will not call you if they are suing you! They will either send you a letter or you would simply find out you had a problem with them once you filed your taxes.

Do consider getting a call blocking device or phone.. You can google them and many are around $40.00 or so.If its a cell phone, some already have call blocking, if not, there are free apps on the web that will work for some. You can google this. If you have a smart phone, there is a free app called call control. Iphones appear to have apps also. Another one is called Mr. Number.

I live here in North East Alabama,  I had received a call today which I had missed from the number 1 (800) - 624- 9565 I tryed calling it back and was unable to until this evening around 730 pm AL time. A foreign man answered and said he was officer jack Williams from the IRS and that he asked what time did they call the first time,  wanted my first and last name which he had asked for twice and I told him I had already given it you (him), as well as my address which he asked for twice as well and I told him I had already given it to him. He was wanting to know how I paid my taxes and I told him like I'm supposed to.  I told him that this better not be a scam cuz I fell for one  this past year about the IRS giving out $8500 for those who hadn't filed bankruptcy and had a good driving record, which I lost $700 on for some applications.  Which the same people tryed contacting earlier this year. Jack said he was confused and put another man on and was wanting to know how  much was I going to pay and I told him nothing and he said he'll see me in court in the morning but did say what court where or what time. I told him what ever and hung up on him. I agree on what some people say if the IRS has any problems with you they'll send something in the mail.
