Received automated call saying it was google trying to secure my account from a hack. Left a code for me to use. However, I checked and there was no attempt by google to advise me of the hack.
I also had a Google verification recently that fits this new number. Google Voice asked me via email to login to reverify a number I rarely use. I went to Google Voice online without following any link from the email, basic phishing protection. Indeed there was an alert to reverify. From within the website I was given the choice to reverify the forwarding line — my cell — via text or touch tone. I chose touch tone and was instructed to enter the code they provided when they called in a moment, using my keypad. When I picked up there was silence until I keyed the code, at which point I got some confirming voice response clearly from Google voice. I can see how this would be suspicious and annoying to anyone not expecting the call!
I think these guys just start emailing any and all emails and see if anyone replys to them as soon as you do they know its a good address just like the phones and then sell it to more of their dirty friends that are in the business so if things get to bad you have to change your email address, don't reply to any email you don't know even what looks like a store email its bad news if you try to unsubscribe. Just delete them it will be so much easier on you in the long run. Can you block anyone on your Yahoo messenger? You need to block all of them or change your email/messenger accounts if you want peace for a while.
