I answered it but there was nobody there. My guess is that it's some kind of robo-call that has the purpose of identifying good phone numbers that they can then sell to somebody.

Automated survey call, when the recording asked if anyone in the household worked for a newspaper, radio broadcaster, etc. etc.
I pressed "1" for yes and the recording said "thanks for you opinion" and hung up!
They don't want to talk to those kind of people???
I hope they remember that I selected 1 and stop calling!
I called this number back and was given option of being taken off caller list. Most all of these numbers, if you call back, give you that option and work on 95% of them. This particular number when I called said "to be removed from future promotions" so telemarketer. Amazingly enough VERIZON got caught and was in the news for "giving" or selling numbers to these telemarketers without permission and used the line, "we only give numbers to companies/products we think you would be interested in!" I called VERIZON and asked if you don't know me how could you what interests me?
