A call came in from this number (202-470-6103/unknown name) while I wasn't home. "Michael" left a message claiming to be an IRS agent and assuring me that I was in danger of being "arrested for a tax evasion" (very poor English) unless I called back right away to settle with them. It was obviously a busy call center located in the Middle East. Apparently they are moving on from the "grants" in June to a new scam.
They called me & said I got a 9000 grant from the goverment that I didnt have 2 pay back.10 mins ago.it sounded fishey I tract the number & it brought me 2 dis site.im glad I found they was a fraud cause I dont give out my bank number 2 no one
Just got this call to receive a grant for $9,000 to never be paid back, and that this was the number to give my information to.
The lady was Indian or Middle Eastern and obviously in a busy call center. She got very upset when I couldn't understand her. First of all the speaker feature on my phone is really terrible and cuts in and out, second I'm literally deaf in one ear with an ear infection right now, and third she had a thick accent and I could barely understand her.
So whatever, I get the "information" (wink wink) to set up and the number to call, Googling it first of course to find this website.
I knew it was a scam the second I answered the phone. For one, it's in India or wherever, secondly it was an Unknown number, and third she addressed me as "Ms. Kitty Lee". NO ONE calls me that unless it is spam. That's apparently how my nickname and my last name get used by these fake companies ALL THE TIME. Spam emails? Fake spam snail mail? To Ms. Kitty Lee. There ya go.
I also got a follow-up Unknown number call from this number: 713-481-8134 apparently located in Houston Texas.
I just got a call from a lady and she said my name came up in the system from a grant that I dont need to pay back..an amount of $9,200.00. She gave me an id number and a phone number to call back with that info. When I called back a man answered saying that I need to send him $300.00. And then he said $100.00 cuz I told him I don't have $300.00. I hung up the phone. These people are jerks..trying to steal money from people who are just trying to live everyday by making ends meet.
I got the call, took the info, logged in to google with the phone #, called back and got hung up on when I told them to take the $200 out of the check that they were going to send me.
