There is a fairly common IRS or "tax scam" being practiced by scammers in both Canada and the USA.
USA tax payers should read this:

Short answer:
The IRS never initiates a contact via phone.
They always send a snailmail first.

I got the same situation at 3 hours ago, he asked my husband, talk about the income tax.......I said we do income tax together, I fill out the tax info, if you have any question you could ask me, and that guy said, he didn't know about that, he just call us and let us know, we have to call this # 202-506-8656. I call back, another guys pick up the phone and ask my name and info....... I think same one try to take same one personer info ......
ps, normal IRS would send you letter by mail, not by phone.....
Just got the call. Googled the telephone number right away . I quickly came to this site and see all the information given by the caller- telephone number, heavy indian accent and name give Allen Blackmen. I Knew it had to be a scam the person they asked for has been dead for years..
The person is leaving messages threatening to be an IRS officer and asking for funds to be transferred. They claim that the police is on the way to arrest you as well.
