I'm getting calls from this same number saying I've been selected from the federal government to receive a once in a lifetime free government grant that never has to be paid back of $9,000 because I've paid my taxes on time for a one time refundable fee of $250. Says I can go to my local Western Union. When I told him I looked it up and shows it's a scam and asked what department of the federal government he was associated with, he hung up on me. The guy was Asian and gave me an American name (Jerry Wilson).
Received the same stupid robo call. I called the number from my burner number, a Middle eastern man answers and, after I give him a fake name he tells me I owe the IRS $9,000 and that "I better take this seriously if I know what's good for me". I said how sorry I was and that I'd like to take care of this ASAP. He asked for a bank account or credit card number, so I give him a fake account number and then talk his ear off about how sorry I was and how I realize the importance of paying my fair share. He eventually yelled at me to shut up before hanging up. He called back 10 minutes later SCREAMING at me about how the account number isn't valid. I apologized and said I must've made a mistake. I gave him another fake number, and again talked his ear off about how sorry I was. He didn't call back after that. I did this three separate times before he recognized he was being pranked.
Criminal scammers impersonating the IRS left me a threatening message.
Computer-generated female voice left the following message recorded in my voice mail:
[missed beginning of message] "… Internal Revenue Services. This is in reference to criminal lawsuit filed against you. Your case number is CF79621. The moment you receive this message I need you or your retained attorney of record to return the call. The issue at hand is extremely time-sensitive. My phone number is 202-552-6651. I repeat it: 202-552-6651. Do not disregard this message, and do return the call. Now if you don’t return the call, and I don’t hear from your attorney either, then the only thing I can do is wish you a good luck as the situation unfolds on you. Goodbye."
I got the same call and thought it was a bit of BS. Looked up the number and hit on this site as always. People got nothing better to do then try and scam people? It makes me sick.
