Claimed the IRS had issued an arrest warrant for me! Gave case number, warrant number, names and badge numbers, it was great! I work for the government so I played along for fun.  They really try to sound legit! Hilarious! Said they were from the US Dept of Justice.

First they say they are from the IRS--now the're claiming they're the DOJ? They can't make up their mind who they are, can they?

If someone calls saying he's an IRS agent and demands that you send money immediately, hang up.
It's a phone scam.In fact, it tops the IRS "Dirty Dozen" list of tax scams this year, and it's been surging in recent months, the agency said Thursday.

The Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration (TIGTA), which oversees the IRS, has received reports of 290,000 scam calls since October 2013 and said nearly 3,000 victims have been swindled out of $14 million so far.

By altering their caller ID number to make it look like they're calling from an IRS office, these scammers often threaten vulnerable people like the elderly and new immigrants with things like arrest, deportation or the loss of their driver's license if they don't pay immediately for money purportedly owed.

Often leaving messages that say it's "urgent" you call them back, the scammers use common names and sometimes say they are from the IRS Criminal Division. They may even claim to know the last four digits of your Social Security number and send follow-up emails that appear to be from the IRS, TIGTA said.

They often demand that payments be made by prepaid debit card.

Once they make their threats, the scammers have been known to call back and again disguise their caller ID so it appears they are calling from the police department or the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV).

Or sometimes when they call, they may say you have a refund due and ask you to provide personal information so you can claim it.

The real IRS will usually contact you by regular mail first, if it needs to contact you at all. And the agency never demands immediate payment by phone or asks for credit card or debit numbers if they do call. It also never asks for personal or financial information by email, text or social media.

If you get what you suspect is a scam call, report it to TIGTA through its Web site or call 800-366-4484.

They just called my roommate and said they were from the IRS and there was a warrant out for his arrest for an IRS debt. All lies. He hung up and they called back three times. SCAM. I hope somebody finds them and locks them up. Sickening!!!! When people like that call my number I scream into the phone at the top of my lungs and hang up. A few decibels will make them go away or I tell them that I a work for the FBI LOL.

202-559-4665 left a message on my home phone advising that there is an arrest warrant for me and to avoid this following through to an arrest I am to call back agent Jason Muller.  I was totally suckered into this - embarrassed in front of my family that there is an arrest warrant for me.  When I phoned I got a foreign accent, I'm guessing asian, answering the line "Investigations"  I asked for agent Jason Muller and got another similar foreign accent who repeated the message left on the phone.  I told the individual that I am taken aback that someone from the IRS department of investigations has such a poor command English and that I am only able to understand a third of what he is saying.  I asked to speak with his supervisor and then I was disconnected.  I called back, I was angry, and this time I told the individual answering the phone "You Suck!"  He responded "[***] M'effer, you wasting my time!"  While it was clear to me at this time that this was some type of scam I was still riled up and wanted to call back and argue with this fictitious agent.  I feel bad for the folk who really fall for this.
