Got the same called starting today. 2 different numbers coming up as NY and DC. Stated I would be arrested, bank closed, license suspended. I freaked out. They also had my address which is weird and scary! Called my tax lady who confirmed it's a scam and the IRS wold never call. While talking to him, he said if I hung up I wouldn't be able to settle my suit out of court. He also said if I didn't have the money to ask my friends or family and I said OK I would call him back, gave me a "direct" number to him "Robin Peters badge number 18108" 202-239-0230. He then preceded to say, "don't tell anyone details about our call or why you need the money, we can't involve other parties, if they ask just say it's for medical bills. That's what set off red flags for me. Called my tax lady and she stated the IRS was hacked and that it was a scam. Be careful everyone.
I received a call from a number that came up on my phone as +20 2 5695674 at 7:13AM. The voicemail they left was automated, stating the IRS is suing me for money I owe. First of all, the way the number came through before 8am isn't at all suspect? Secondly, it's been all over the news that the IRS will not call you demanding money. It's a scam!!!!!
I just received a call from this, complete autobot call. It's an IRS phishing scam. I haven't even filed yet, so how can they sue me already this year? Lol.
Also, anyone at the IRS states their name as Mr or Mrs/Ms/Miss last name and give you their operator number. I've had to have the IRS return a call to me before, and they list that information in the voicemail so you have proof of who is calling back.
We've gotten 4 voicemails from the number. After reading all the previous posts I will definitely NOT be calling the number back. Thanks to all who have posted.
