This is a SCAM!!! I got in upwards of 20 calls per day, for about two weeks from a blocked number. I finally got fed up and answered one of the calls. The guy said his name was Roodey, and he worked for a government grant dispersement company. He said that I had been chosen to receive 7500 dollars and that I didnt have to give my ssn or my account number to receive it. All I had to do was go to a western union to pick up the money. He gave me a confirmation number and this phone number to call (202-657-4439) I called the number and the person I talked to could hardly speak English, so I was unable to understand what he was talking about. Then all I did was ask to speak to some one with out such a heavy accent, so I was transfered to someone else ( who was also Indian and spoke just as bad) but I was better able to understand. They kept saying that I would need to bring 273 dollars to western union and with the authorization code then I would be awarded my money. I asked alot of questions about why I would have to pay to receive a "free" government grant, and the guy I was speaking to flipped out and started cussing and screaming at me! He screamed that I was a [***] [***] [***] in upwards to 15 times in a row, and then threatened me that if I ever called back bad things would happen to me!!! DO NOT CALL THIS NUMBER OR TALK TO THESE PEOPLE. They are nothing more than an organization that buys and sells personal information in order to scam you out of money for all kinds of random fake [***]; charities, fund raisers, ect. Someone needs to report these guys. If they worked for our government, especially if they were giving out government money, they would be able to at least speak our language.
Now that I'm awake and have my glasses on, I see that it's from "withheld"!!! I avoided these calls for the last couple of days! The "Indian" sounding only asked me to confirm my B/Date. Last week I was being spammed by calls that I wouldn't answer. As soon as my vm would pick up, it would call back. I finally, after about 10 back to back calls, I answered and it was from a machine!!! The may have gotten my address and stuff from AT&T bill or something???
I got this same call today and I realized from their language it's a fake call. They told Me to pay 200$ in order to get 7500$. I knew that s the catch. I called that person and told him ,I recorded the whole conversation and informed to FBI. FBI will be there soon, guess he hung up the phone.
I just got a phone call today from a Paul Jackson who claims that I have a $7500 grant and that I need to call (202-657-4439)...I did not give them anything...I hate phone scams and I will they would quit trying to take advantage of people.
