This call said it was from the IRS and that the IRS was going to file a lawsuit against me. I am totally disabled and don't even file tax returns at all. A total scam - do not answer or reply to messages.
Received a call from this number and they left a voice mail. This is the final notice that the IRS is filing a lawsuit against you, and left the phone number to call.
Obviously, this is where I came, and I've been through a 9-year battle with the IRS - this is NOT how they contact you and they don't threaten you with lawsuits. They seize your bank accounts, and file liens on properties. The message left was not a live person, it sounded computer generated.
I too received a voice message from 202-738-4400 saying it was a final notice from the IRS and that they were filing a lawsuit against me. First of all, the IRS does not call you. They send you a letter and yes they put a hold on your bank account or garnish your wages. They do not waste time calling anyone.
I received this call as a voice mail message. It stated "Hello, this call is officially a final notice from the IRS (Internal Revenue Service). The reason for this call is to inform you that the IRS is filing a law suit against you. To get more information about this case file please call immediately on our official department number 202 738 4000. Thank you."
This sounds like a recording. There is a subtle accent to the voice. I did not respond. From those comments from others this is obviously a scam.
