Came through as Cell Phone DC on the caller id. Answered and after a brief moment where the call connected, the person said, "This is the U.S. Government and you have been selected to receive a $9000 grant from the government. I'm sure you..." I cut her off. She could barely speak English. The call center was SO LOUD that I could barely hear her. And when I told her it was a scam she hung up on me. There is another site where nearly a hundred people have reported the same call with various responses from the callers including "f&^k off." Btw, they won't mail a check, they will only deposit money directly to your bank account (which means giving them personal information so they can steal your stuff) and others have stated that they want you to pay first. Um... no.
caller stated they are from the united state government. , wrong. and that they have grants available for you . they ask you for you.is Blank there, that name they asked for on my phone is my Facebook profile name exactly. and i never use anywhere its a nickname. so obviously they get your info from Facebook somehow, nice, they laugh and hang up really quick. its very loud in the backround and they hardly speak a word of english . yet telling you they are calling u from washington,dc 's , wrong again , they can't even say washington dc correctly or united states government either . when you say yes this is the person they are asking for they laugh and hang up.
Said i was selected for a grand of $8,000 gave me a grant confirmation number and a another number to call but they said that three ways to get the money by derect deposit, through a card, and through Western Union or a money grant as cash. Then asked which one I would like I say cash and then hear him say damn. Had bad English and call center in background was loud.
Got a call from this number...she told me (pure Hispanic accent) I was selected for this and that grant and when I asked her to send me via mail or western union she hanged up....she wanted me card or bank...scam!!!
