I had a message on my phone that said something about how "they" could help me (i.e. steve martin), and if they didn't help me, I could have a judge or magistrate doing something to me. It was a computer-generated voice. I did call the number, but it just rang without end.
called and said was with the us treasure dept. said had a warrant out for me if I did not pay the 7150.00 dollars owed 2010 return. my roommate heard of these peole and knew it was a scam. thank goodness. the man sounded as though from India she called number back and told them they have been reported on fraud line and never call back again. Please find these people and stop this. I was very bothered by this phone call thinking a warrant had been taken out on me, and I was going to jail. My roommate had the same phone call in 2011 w. hile attending her moms funeral
They can't be found. Even if you could find them, what could you do. Nothing. Calls originate in India and Pakistan.
Invest in a call blocker and DO NOT pick up on call numbers you do not recognize.
IRS does NOT file lawsuits and does NOT initiate contact by phone. IRS does NOT issue warrants. No one is prosecuted in the US for errors in tax returns.
Same IRS scam as reported above. Caller ID shows as 'Cell Phone DC'. I've had these calls before and never answer them. A foreign sounding voice left a recorded message.
