Rec'd an automated call saying they were calling about "tax fraud", etc. I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that the IRS hardly EVER, IF EVER, CALLS YOU!!, rather they send an official notice by mail. As I am currently on extension and haven't even filed my last year's return.... how would anyone know about a return that wasn't even filed? Anyway, it didn't sound right and I'm happy I ran across this site. I just replayed this message, and they're trying to be cute, i.e. The first thing the women's voice recording said was, "My batch number is 9165..." and that if I didn't respond to the call that I would be hauled before an IRS or Federal court. SHAME ON PEOPLE LIKE THIS!
this number called me and said that i had commited tax fraud. I said how is this. They gave me a figure and said it was from 2010. I asked if there was a number i could call to verify who they were and they hung up. middle eastern accent. I called them back and asked again. they hung up again. now if i try to call i get a busy signal. caller id is washintonz dc. Dont give them any information they are frauds.
SCAM big time. I tired calling them back and the phone just rings and rings. The Indian female stated I owe on my taxes and if I do not pay now a sheriff will come and get me. She said she sent many letters to my home but I told her I never got them. Sad they pick on the elderly in this way. They must be making money....Maybe we should tell them they owe in taxes from all the money they are getting from people.
Us treasury dept. states charges are pressed against me if I don't pay them money. Identified themselves as the U.S. Treasury Dept. Why isn't the government doing anything about this. Its obvious no one has stopped this scam. People are being ripped off. I have one thing to say to the scammers... Your too stupid to get a honest job like everyone else than you most certainly have no business pretending to be something you clearly could never be- Ignorance is no excuse to rip good people off. IT's LAW!
