Just got this same msg on answering machine. So did one of our relatives, except they called the number and the "official" was beyond abusive/intimidating, lots of facts and seemed to "know" much of their personal information, when finally got suspicious enough to hang up called a friend who works for the IRS who verified it was a scam.. IRS is always trying to track these creeps down to prosecute but numbers are usually 'spoofed' and actually calls are coming from foreign countries. BEWARE.
Love it. Message states this is my final warning before the IRS files suit against me. Have not received any earlier warnings and I don't owe anything beyond the taxes already paid, aka confiscation of my hard won earnings. Caller ID shows Dist of Columbi. Even if the call was true, I can't afford a lawyer to fight it so, frankly I wouldn't mind some time in a country club prison with all expenses paid.
