The recorded message was a SCAM call from someone claiming to be with the IRS. I was told to call this number because I was about to be arrested for tax fraud. Last two times this happened, I called and acted concerned about owing the IRS money. Both times, middle eastern men explained that I owed a huge sum of money but could settle for a smaller amount. Finally, I told them I knew they were scammers, and they hung up quickly. This time, I didn't listen long before asking the guy (another middle eastern man) if he made any money with this scam. He spent the next 13 minutes using every "dirty" English word he knew. When I laughed at his attempt to insult me, he laughed back and tried to use the words in more creative ways. When I laughed, he laughed. Apparently his job is pretty boring most of the time, and he was having fun talking "dirty" to me. Glad I could entertain him for awhile. Finally, I said I was bored and hung up. Pretty sure the call was from offshore and was spoofed to appear it was from the DC area. Although only an idiot would believe this scam, apparently it makes enough money to be worth doing. Sorry I don't have much sympathy for people who get cheated by really bad scams.
Same story, with one minor change. Doesn't even show up as a missed call, just popped up as a voicemail. So either a) it's an Internet-based spoofed # that doesn't ring or b) it's a number that I already have blocked for scamming. That tells me all I need to know.
called the 202 number and said I was a lawyer with dewy, cheetem and how. Gave a made up number and said I was Jump Wallaby. They could not find my records. I asked the guy what company this was and he said washington dc. I said that is a town not a company. "Oh! this is IRS" he claimed and when I started to laugh he broke out the Mother words. He got so mad he wont answer the phone for my wife to pull his leg.
