They just keep calling with variations of the same number. I wonder how they're getting beyond the national,do not call registry? I have my number listed. Vant understand them either. Makes no sense.
If you are able to block calls you'll have to do that but they may call you from another number. You could also just ignore calls from strange numbers and if they don't leave a message, they really didn't want to talk. That's the way I look at it. Eventually, they get tired of calling and find another prey.
1. This is a spoofed number, so that's why there are different reports about this number. That's also why the national do not call list thing is totally ignored. This is from another site, "Caution, 202-923-2589 is a "spoofed" number, which means that whoever called you "tricked" your caller ID to display an incorrect phone number. Telemarketers do this so you cannot complain, but they failed... you can still file a complaint here to fight back against unethical telemarketers." You can also tell if the number is spoofed by just calling back. I did on this one, and it says the call can't be completed, please check the number..."
2. Only way to get them to stop calling is to block them. (Yes, they called me too.)
3. Report this as fraud here: http://www.stopfraud.gov/report.html
These unethical people will call you over and over from different numbers (they do this to me daily), so your best bet is to ensure you have a phone where you can just block all you want for free. And obviously never give out your financial info, passwords or anything to anyone who's called you or emailed you (even if they appear to be legit companies, legit companies don't actually do this). Be vigilant and protect yourselves!
Same here foreign guy a grant of 10 thousand that you can't use too buy anything illegal pick it up at western union or put it on a credit card. Bull, scam.
