Received a call from this number a few hours ago claiming to be contracted by Windows to call all windows users to deal with problems due to Storm Sandy. I already knew it was a scam and he talked a little more, When there was a break I told him that I already knew it was a scam call and they just threw Sandy in the mix. He replied that, "Oh no, we are located here in the United States" (Indian accent) and I could check. I said that it didn't matter because I wasn't having any problems. He said fine and he just needed to ask a few questions. He asked if I had noticed problems with my internet connection in past few days. Answered "no. Asked another question or two that I responded no then he hung up. Do people really fall for these calls?
Everyone on this thread got a call from these twits. The question is, does anyone know who this can be reported to, to trace these calls and put an end to them?
Everyone has run into computer performance issues. When they call, it isn't because they have received a message from your computer, such as a log. They are just calling in the hope that someone wants their computer fixed and will give them access. For a fee Microsoft techs will fix it...your best bet.
I think Microsoft needs to go the extra mile to make it well known that they don't collect logs from your machine nor will they instigate a call to you to fix it.
In the meantime we need to make enough noise about this so someone with the right tools can trace and hopefully prosecute these thugs.
Showed up on my cell phone as 011 44 20 30513739. Answered, but there was no one on the other end. Auto-dialing to find out when a good time to call might be? Haven't people got better things to do than bother those that are not interested? If I had more information, I would file reports with the Do Not Call organizations, both in Canada and he US.
Okay so I got a phone call a few days ago from 'Windows' and I knew it was a scam right away.
I asked them to tell me the IP address that is sending them these messages and they couldn't give me the info. I ended up messing with him more pretending to have a Mac Computer so there must be a mistake.
Anyways, at the end of the call I told him that I loved him and he said that he loved me too.
I asked if we could be facebook official and he laughed and said yes and then we hung up and said bye.
Well the next day he calls me house AGAIN. Then asks my father to speak to his daughter (me).
Well I wasn't home so my dad asked for his number so I could call him back, well he got cut off and my dad hung up.
So TODAY he calls again and asks for me yet again.
He says to me "Hey it's Paul your boyfriend" and I played along of course.
So he asks me how his day is and tells me he's from India... Asks what I do for work haha (I didn't tell him).
Then he's like "Say hi to my friend Adam!" and speak to his friend Adam for a minute who also just asks how I am and stuff.
Anyways, so I ask for his number but I think I got it wrong due to his accent.
I'm seriously hoping he calls back tomorrow, this is hilarious.
I think I am going to try and get his facebook LOL.
Well I am now getting daily calls from two guys Paul and Adam that just want to talk on the phone with me LOL.
Now they aren't even trying to scam me, it's a little strange...
Adam even told me that if the boss catches them they're going to be in really big, big, big trouble.
