When I heard his accent, I immediately said, "Please remove me from your list." He told me to say, "I love you". I repeated, "Please remove me from you list." He said he would, if I said "I love you. I said, "Just do it." He asked, "Do what?" We went round and round till he finally just hung up. I have no clue why he called. LOL
Threats to disable my computer if I didn't do what told ...heavy accent possibly India..very hostile angry dialog. Threats to my bank account. Claimed I had been hacked and would suffer damage and more hacking if I didn't cooperate. Reported to local police was told " it was going around". When challenged said he was windows technician.
Can't go around if people are ignoring their calls entirely. They can't play alone. Don't be surprised by anything that these crooks say or try. Hang up on foreigners who deliver cold calls about finances or computers, much less get into conversations with them.
When will the United States telephone companies stop blithely passing bogus/spoofed calls from foreign countries through its phone lines? When the national telcos stop accepting money for every single one of these calls, that's when.
Would complaining to the telephone companies work if enough of us did it? Or would that be like complaining about the $BIG_CABLE_COMPANY who laughs and takes our money?
How about creating an instant lookup service for every call in the US, and the moment that one of these numbers is used to harass "too many people", it gets black-listed across the US for everyone? Like a national call-blocker/firewall, but with voting. Like YouTube does for suspected copyright violation take-downs, but more than a single blacklisting vote is needed.
