Caller ID says, "AL, USA." The caller did not leave a message. I do NOT know anyone in Alabama - a dead cert this is a telemarketing call. I have blocked the number.
Telemarketers, why do you waste your time and mine? I will not buy anything from you. If I want something, I will research it via reputable resources online or in print and then go from there. A random phone call from some stranger - read: you - makes me want to run a mile and for the hills. Go away!
>> Why cant' these callers be held to uphold the DNC list?? <<
Here we go again ... somebody expects (possible) criminals to obey policies!
This post has two parts. The =second= is for people who are interested in the realities of the Do Not Call list. The =first= is for people who have difficulty understanding long explanations, but think the DNC list does not work.
1)
The DNC list is not a magic switch attached to your phone line, that will block calls.
The DNC list is intended to help stop calls originating from legitimate telemarketers.
* Your calls were not from legitimate telemarketers.
* Therefore, the DNC list will not stop those calls.
2)
The DNC list does not automatically block calls. Instead, it provides a list of "do not call" phone numbers to legitimate, registered telemarketers who pay a fee for the list.
The DNC list exempts political callers, survey organizations, charities, and companies with preexisting business relationships, as well as debt collectors, but these organizations might have their own, internal Do Not Call list (ask them).
The DNC list is not effective against criminals, spammers and scammers, because those people do not subscribe to the DNC list, and do not care if you are on or off that list.
Its purpose is to stop calls from legitimate telemarketers, and it does a pretty good job at that. Just think ... if there were no DNC, you would be receiving incessant calls from BOTH legitimate and scam telemarketing callers!

Remember, the FCC's Do Not Call site is a good one to report unwanted calls from LEGITIMATE telemarketers. To report spammers and scammers, visit the FTC site, at https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/
If you receive calls even after reporting them (and waiting a sufficient time), then you should consider using a call blocker app, device or service as your first line of defense. Google "call blocker" to see such things at Amazon or other sites.

This is a question you need to ask your US Senators. And in turn, our senators need to ask this question to the people in charge of the FTC. The FTC was put in charge of enforcing the DNC law.
Yes the FTC cannot stop telemarketers from calling a number on the DNC list. But if they do, it is the job of the FTC is to go after them so that they do not call you again.
Here is an example: A police officer cannot stop a crook from braking into your house. But when this happens, it is this officer’s job to go after the crook and catch him so that he cannot do this again to you or anyone else. This officer is doing his job- enforcing the law. With over two million unresolved complaints since January, it is obvious that the FTC is not doing its job to enforce the law.
We do not need to continue dwelling on technicalities of this law. It is plain and simple. There is a law; the law is being broken; there is an agency in charge of enforcing it. Let’s make this agency do its job.
We all need to write to our Senators and ask that they hold hearings and ask hard questions to this agency about the over two million unresolved complains this year.
These telemarketers are invading our homes and harassing our families; If we do not take action to make this law work, we will continue to be victims. Let’s not be victims. Take action; write to our Senators; get something done.
Dial tones, unsolicited calls, area code from Alabama (205) with a foreign corporation named Asia Pacific out of Utah. How many more reasons are needed not to answer this call or to pick up and hang up immediately or block the call.
