I got a recorded phone call from 210-301-0307, someone claiming to be Officer Julie Smith of the IRS, urgently telling me that I or my legal representative needs to "call back immediately, do not ignore this call" and call her back at 206-495-9309. Two hours later I got a call from the same number, this time a recorded call from a male telling me that a lawsuit has been filed against me and that he needs to speak to me before the lawsuit is filed at the County Courthouse in my area, and please call back right away to 206-414-6036. Both recordings were in American English.
Julie Smith of the IRS - call us back or we'll have to take further action. Call and a male answers, when I ask for Julie Smith get static or busy tone
I got a call from them too... the inbound call came from TEXAS (12103010307) with the following message (taken from my Vonnage transcript) "The issue at hand is extremely time sensitive. My officer Julie Smith from Internal Revenue Service and the hotline to my division is 2064959309. I repeat it's 2064959309. Don't disregard this message and do return the call before we take any action against you. Goodbye and take care."
I went to the IRS website and filed a complaint against them... http://tigia.gov you should do the same.
I called and someone with a very heavy Indian accent said his name was "Max Gordon", I asked where he was calling from and he said "Washington", I asked for his actual address so I could verify the accusation with my local police... he said "IRS in Washington", I said... yes, but I need you actual office address for verification... CLICK.
I hope they get stomped good... scared the hell out of my wife... she was pretty freaked out. I'd love to kick their [***].
SCAM!!! I received a robotic TTS message that was supposedly from Officer JULIE SMITH from the IRS. It said:
"The hotline to my division is 206-495-9309 (Seattle)...Don't disregard this message and do return the call, before we take any action against you. Goodbye and take care."
The IRS NEVER CALLS AND THREATENS YOU in this way. These scammers (likely India/Pakistan based) are trying to get your personal info for identity theft and/or to take your money using fear tactics like "the police are going to arrest you". HANG UP the phone every time. It's that simple.
This guy called me told IRS was suing me three times, for theft, fraud and violations of some code. Told me an officer came to my doors step three times, on three occasions and there was no answer so this person instead of leaving me a note on my door, talked to my neighbor whom name he cannot recall to let me know if the urgency of this. Then they told me someone call me several times with no answer, when I asked why this "officer" did not leave a voicemail they said “because the IRS does not leave voicemails" to which I answered, but you just did "Julie called me and left me a voice mail". Then I asked why I had no received anything in the post, they said because the IRS does not use the mail. I said that’s strange as I have received post from them before. He then told me I owed 1250 dollars, and I asked “I assume I can now give you my credit card and settle this", he got upset, told me I was not cooperating and that he will now send someone to arrest me. I told him, I will be here waiting.
These guys are incredibly good a intimidating PLEASE DO NOT fall for this and do report them. They are awful people.
