This is an ID scam. The number is spoofed and goes to a generic message that says you can "opt-out" by pressing "1", but like all of these robo-calls, it doesn't work and by pressing "1" you are confirming that they have dialed a 'live' body and can now sell this number to more of these lead generation scammers who will now call you even more often.
NEVER give out your financial info to ANYONE who calls YOU. Since caller ID can be faked, you can't be sure who is calling you unless YOU dial the number.
BTW, Rachel from "Card Services" really seems to get around doesn't she? I get 5-8 calls a day from "Rachel" and the Mortgage Mod Scammers.
They laugh at the Do Not Call List - they call from faked numbers, make other businesses numbers show up on caller ID and use VOIP phone services to hide from the law.
Be SURE to go to the FTC.GOV website and REPORT EVERY ONE OF THESE SCAM CALLS.
They HAVE the resources and the equipment to back-trace these calls and find the companies that are providing the service to these scammers - they can find them and prosecute them.
BUT- unless you file a complaint and give them the info to help find these scammers, these baboons will continue to call us and bug us for stuff we couldn't care less about.
So, get on the Do Not Call List, FILE those complaints EVERY time these baboons call you and get them caught and prosecuted!!
If you post here or at any related type of phone site - make sure that you post a complaint to the FTC.GOV site too!! It's the only way to ensure that these guys get what's coming to them.
Today, I received the same phonecall myself because I was referred "by my credit companies to lower credit card interest rates. [They] work with Visa/Mastercard/Discover". I started asking questions when they asked for further information, then I got transferred. New gal said they were from "Client Services", told me they work with several Visa/Mastercard card services (no Discover this time, hmmm...) and I was disconnected shortly thereafter.
I looked up the real Client Services online and called them to see if anyone had called me. A very nice gentleman said no, no one had called me and they are aware of the scammers and to please report the problem. I reported the following information via email contact form on the real Client Services website.
The call was from 206-496-0414 from Seattle, Washington.
I would recommend that any of you that saw Pacifictel contact them directly
http://www.pacifictel.com/contact-us
and report your experience.
Caller ID said SEATTLE and the number 206-496-0414. I also am on the DNC list...I can't see that it works very well. No message was left, but I have rec'd calls about lowering my interest rates from other #'s.
Now I hear there is a bill about to be voted on allowing robo calls to cell phones....
Got the same type of call last night........I'm also on the Do Not Call list and will report it as I've had several from this same number......at least it's worth a try!
