sick of this stuff..been on dnc list for years but so many of these scam callers make it through now that I'm seriously thinking about spending the 100 bucks and getting a Digitone call blocker
Got a call at 12:25 PM today, November 16. Unfortunately as I was expecting a call from someone I picked up without allowing the Caller ID to fully register in my brain. The recorded voice started off, "Hello this is Rachel from credit card services..." I hung up immediately. Even with Caller ID, deciding which calls to accept and which to ignore can get tricky as some doctors' offices, etc. just identify themselves by phone numbers and if you don't pick up you've missed the call you were waiting for (unless of course they start talking and identify themselves).
One idea is to take up as much of their time as possible, stringing them along with a story that you're interested up to the point that they demand info you don't want to give and can't make up.
Just another credit card scam.
The National And State Do Not Call Registry has no teeth in it but this federal law has a huge bite!
The Fereral Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA) passed by
Congress in 1991, sets out precise rules for telemarketers to follow.
Telemarkerters website that explains the law to them:

My telemarketing calls have gone from 20-25 a month to an average of 2.
