You can if you have an Androide cell phone. The App is called "tcallBlocking". There is a free version in which you can block up to 3 ph. numbers and then a full version that costs $2.00, allowing you to block unlimited numbers. I just bought the full version to use the wild card. By using the wildcard, you can block an entire area code by entering <206*>.
I have been getting the same calls from various different "206" area code numbers, so I found this App and it has been working for me.
I have been getting calls from this number for weeks. If you Answer it is a political survey, if you do not answer they hang up. They are driving me nuts.
Same problem here. I figured that these people are just mapping out unlisted cell phone numbers to sell to companies, but they keep calling.
On a potentially more malicious note, they could be mapping out cell phones in order to find smartphones. If the phones have some kind of vulnerability they can exploit, they might try to compromise them. That could mean big bucks for somebody, due to the fact that many people access financial accounts via their phones.
I am in the cyber security field and so I tend to see these kinds of possibilities. Doesn't mean that is what is happening, but it is a possibility.
It's a 'spoof number' originating with a scammer. They could be calling from anywhere, but have a computer software program that shows a false number on someones call screen. They are not legitimate and there is little phone companies can do to stop them. Ignore them or block them if you have the capability on your phone or telephone system. They also use several different numbers.
