Same as others, sometimes I mess with them and keep them busy as long as possible and others I just tell them I do not even have a computer, they are simply scam fools.
Received call from 206-555-0100; caller said his name was "John," but spoke with such a thick Indian accent, I seriously doubt that is true. Said he was calling for Time Warner internet service. I told him we were not interested and hung up. He IMMEDIATELY called back!!! Said I didn't understand that he could save me money on my internet service. I told him that I said we were not interested the first time he called and not to call the number again. I hung up before he could respond.
09.11 pm, EST, Australia.
I just answered a call from "Overseas 206 555 0100".
A male voice, possibly Indian accent, asked to speak to the "computer department". I said there was not one and "I know this is a scam". He hung up. I have had similar calls before this but did not note the number they came from. I have now added a call block to that number.
That was the third "Overseas" call since last night. The other two calls were from "Overseas Unknown Number" and when I answered the phone the caller hung up immediately.
This past week I received at least dozen calls from this number, as well as from 206.555.0114 and 971.555.0129
If I hang up, they call back.
They say they are from the "IT Department of Windows". I play along for a while to see how far they take it.
Today they said they are from the IT Dept of the Federal Govt.
Their first request is to "go to your computer", and "what do you see".
They then want me to go to the Run box ("R like in Romeo") and then type in msconfig .I have not taken it past this stage.
If I say they should give me the directions, they say they have to guide me. Eventually they hang up/ Or I hang up.
Today he started cussing, since I was not letting him "guide" me, saying he was going to disconnet my computer from the internet right away.
received call and thought it was legit as I had filed a report re a windows account---he did get access to my computer-------------said he was Jackson From ECI in support of Windows---said he had a secure site--Log Me In Support that I would pay a onetime $199.00---it was at this point I refused to give my 3 digit sec code he got upset and called back 4 times--with different 206 555 numbers---------------my concern is does anyone do anything to stop them;do they actually inbed anything into your computer;does my McAphee protect me????
