I just received the message on my work # and called it back. The person who answered couldn't speak English very well - Middle East accent. I knew before I called it was a scam but took the time to call and waste his time!
I received a call from (726)472-5687 directing me to this number. I knew it was a scam and when I did an online search to find an IRS site to report the call, I saw lots of information about this. CBS news just did a report which included these statistics:
"At least 366,000 people have reported receiving a call and more than 3,000 of them have been fooled by the scam, giving up a total of $15.5 million."
No wonder these despicable thieves will never stop when there are millions to be made. A victim for every 122nd call with an average theft of a little over $5,000 per victim. Try to alert as many family and friends as you can. Also, this site needs to add "Scammer" or "Fraudulent" in the Call Type drop down box.
Dad keeps getting this call telling him to call 206-569-4739 because the IRS is suing him for taxes owed. I told him it's a scam. First of all, the IRS never calls you, they send mail. Second of all, the computer voice in the phone call said that IRS stands for Internal Revenue Services. It doesn't. It stands for Internal Revenue Service. Notice there is no S at the end? Who is doing this?
