Value Village is a pretty good place. But legit or not, these kids (or the paid hustlers fronting for them) are the most persistent I have encountered during the past four years. And, yes, I keep records. During the past month, they have called 9 times when others have called either 1 or 2 times.
A thought: So many telemarketers, who shill for different organizations within a short time-frame, work from boiler-rooms that utilize auto-dialers which are capable of dialing thousands of numbers each day. This accounts for the time lag, the heavy breathing, and the general disarray of background chatter you encounter if you should answer – the computer is ahead of them in the process. Just wondering; how many of these poor schlubs get calls from other boiler-rooms during their own “off the clock” time? Have they stomped on their own cell phones yet, or do they have methods of dealing with this nonsense which they are not sharing? pooh
I was thinking of replacing this 22 year-old land-line of mine. It hardly seems worth it.
I have received many calls in the past from Community Services for the Blind, and have in fact donated clothing and items several times but now we have a blue truck at our local grocery store that takes donations any time so I've been donating there (I don't have to hold onto stuff until I get a call from CSB). Last month, I got a call and I did plan to leave out a bag of clothing for donation. I marked the bag as directed and left it out before 7am at the edge of my covered porch for 5 days... No one showed up to pick it up. I decided that the next time I get a call, I'd tell them to remove my name as they couldn't bother to come by when they said they would, leaving my items out for days. Now I've received multiple calls, 2 of them this evening alone, yet when I answer there is no one there. I can't even tell them to remove me off the list since I get nothing buy silence....
THANK YOU NO RECORDING " I called back 206-767-2177 & told them what you said, I also asked to have my # removed. That these are apparently ROBO CALLS and she said they were. I told her no one is ever on the line and I wanted this to stop. She told she would have my number removed and she was very pleasant about it. Will see if this works
I do not have items to donate. That is taken care of with two non profits nearer to my home.
Please stop calling. We have organizations that we support, but not in a position to add another.
