I called and asked them why they were impersonating the IRS he said if they would be send a car over to take me into custody and then I would believe them. I told them to send them on over and hung up.
Had two messages on our answering machine today, both an automated voice saying we are being sued by the IRS and we need to call this number. Sounded like BS to me, so I Googled the number. They must be breaking so many laws, FCC regulations, etc. I feel sorry for all the naive people out there that would be terrified by these calls and hand over their credit card info. They need to be stopped!!
206-801-5201. First, a recorded message in a female's voice saying I'm being sued by the IRS. Then, instructions to call. I got through to a male with a thick Indian accent who stated that multiple mailings had been sent, and why hadn't I responded? His tone was a tad intimidating, though sluggish. He hung up on me when I asked him to repeat himself because I could not understand what he was saying. Then, I called IRS to report, which was no small task - on hold for over an hour. The agent assured me that IRS would always begin any proceedings through the US Postal Service -- that a phone call would be rare, and only after several mailings had gone out. He also provided a number to call to make further report: 1-800-366-4484. And a website, if you prefer: www.titga.gov . He also said that on the www.irs.gov site, if you enter the keyword "scam" in the search, you see a lot of info.
